Flood Prevention Service

Drain Maintenance

Flood PreventionA preventative maintenance program can save significant expense over the long term by eliminating the risk of blockages and leaks which can cause flooding and damage to property. Planned maintenance also ensures the effective functioning of pipe work and drainage systems over long periods of time.

Our preventative maintenance programs are tailored to the specific needs of each customer and include (but are not limited to):

  • Cleaning and clearing of drainage
  • Scale cutting
  • Tree root removal

High pressure water jetting can be used to both unblock and clean drains. A high pressure hose fitted with various nozzles allows jets of water to remove blockages and build-ups of debris from your drains.

Waterline Leak Detection

Victoria Drains is the licenced distributor for a highly sophisticated waterline leak detection monitor.  Installation is made at the water main connection and the device monitors trends in water usage with the intent of shutting off the water when an "unsantioned" event occurs.

Remote Water Detector shut-offs

Technology has infiltrated the world of drainage to a incredible extent. If you are at work, on vacation or anywhere other than your home and the water pipe in your kitchen bursts or the valve under your sink fails and starts leaking everywhere the damage will be extensive. You will come home hours or days or weeks later and find your flooring, carpet drywall and even the structure of your home damaged. The expensive removal and repairs will run into the thousands of dollars.  There are numerous points of potential damage in every home - sinks, toilets, bathtubs, showers, dishwasher, washing machine, water heater and toilets. With older pipes, weakened connections, valve failures, earthquakes, and many other causes, a minor leak can quickly turn into a big problem. Leaks don't just damage the things you can see, they can result in mold buildup behind walls and can even do damage to structural elements of your home, causing it to deteriorate faster, collapse, and possibly cause injuries to its occupants.

If you have a vacation home or property where you might want to remotely turn the main water supply on and off, adding one of these hubs can save you thousands in potential repairs.  Even in the most harmless of cases remote control of your water supply can save you money in wasted water.  For example, if a tap or an exterior hose develops a small leak, there will be no damage to the structure, but an elevated water bill can get expensive - particularly if your property is located in an arid location and weeks or months go by between visits.  With a remote Electronic Shutoff Valve you can remotely control the valve from your smartphone or tablet via online interface.
